At Sutro Consultants, we help infrastructure agencies use technology, data, and asset management methods to improve how they manage their equipment and facilities, deliver services, and support their staff.
Sutro’s perspective is shaped by experience from both sides of implementation. Before founding Sutro, Adam Butler was employee 40 at MaintainX, where he led implementation processes and developed standards for modern maintenance software deployments. With Autodesk’s announced agreement to acquire MaintainX, that experience reflects a broader industry shift toward connected operations, asset data, and lifecycle decision-making.
Today, Sutro applies that perspective in a vendor-neutral way to help public agencies select, configure, integrate, and sustain systems that work in the field. We support software selection and implementation, business process workflow mapping, legacy data access with Hawkeyes, and phased asset management roadmaps, with related support for integrations, reporting, Owner’s Advisor services, and program management.
Our goal is to help agencies move from fragmented tools and informal knowledge to practical, people-centered systems that improve collaboration, preserve institutional knowledge, and support better long-term decisions.
For software selection and implementation projects, we often use a structured evaluation funnel to help agencies move from initial alignment to vendor selection, configuration planning, and implementation readiness.
We work with agency staff to understand current systems, workflows, data, pain points, and priorities. Through interviews, workshops, data review, and management alignment sessions, we identify opportunities to improve asset management, maintenance operations, and cross-department coordination. After the assessment, we develop a phased implementation roadmap that combines staff-identified priorities with Sutro’s recommendations.
We turn assessments into phased, achievable roadmaps. This may include a CMMS master plan, software selection strategy, asset management roadmap, legacy data approach, staffing recommendations, and prioritized implementation steps. Our role is to help agencies make informed decisions before investing in new systems or major configuration changes.
